Teaching
I care deeply about being an effective teacher and consider it central to my professional identity. My teaching philosophy is motivated by three objectives: (1) help students learn how to think abstractly and digest complex ideas, (2) facilitate students’ development of skills they will use in future endeavors, and (3) make classes as accessible and inclusive as possible.
While at The Ohio State University, I taught Social Theory more than a dozen times. I am also experienced at teaching Introduction to Sociology and Research Methods in Sociology. I am excited to design courses on Work & Labor, Education, Gender, Stratification, Race and Ethnicity, and Qualitative Research Methods, among others. Feel free to email me for a sample syllabus or for further teaching materials.
During my tenure at The Ohio State University I won two teaching awards and participated in the Preparing Future Faculty Teaching Fellowship Program.
